WHO WE ARE
(Continued Adult Special Learning Experience) is a Not-For-Profit Corporation as of Oct. 9, 2015.
Our mission is to provide a positive opportunity for interested young adults with special needs
to maintain and continue learning, following their completion of high school.
This learning will involve intellectual, social / emotional, physical and personal growth.
CASLE became a Not -For-Profit organization on October 9, 2015. CASLE
raised enough funds from local service clubs to begin a four-month Pilot Project that began on Monday, February 29, 2016. We held the various programs three days a week at Pretty River Academy. CASLE has three directors; Sheri Bulfon, Kathryn Colantonio and Katherine Burns. We are run solely by volunteers. Most of the volunteers are retired teachers, but
many of our volunteers are from local businesses and organizations. The
volunteers are either in a Volunteer Teaching position or they are a Support Volunteer to assist the members in meeting with success in participation in all of the programs.
Our members are young adults with special needs who have completed their high school years and are not able to access continued learning opportunities (College, Univerisity). The members are asked to join CASLE if they want to maintain and continue their learning. We offer a program that will help them to continue to reach their potential. The various subject areas were requested by the members from a survey. The young adults also choose their own Personal Learning Goals for each term. Members are asked to pay a fee of $10 a day to assist with the costs of running CASLE (rent, resources, director/volunteer insurance). CASLE also runs various fundraising events throughout the year to also support the financial needs.
To maintain and continue your learning!
